Activities in community health nursing include:
- Communicable Disease Control – mainly immunization program with the objective of reducing the vaccine preventable diseases by immunizing population groups
- Prenatal Nutrition Program – The prenatal nutrition program promotes healthy pregnancies through support activities that are inline with culture and community, including nutritional education and counseling.
- Aboriginal Diabetes Program – the objective of this program is to raise the awareness of diabetes and diabetes prevention, encourage physical activity, nutritious diet and to minimize the effects of complications.
- Maternal Child Health – We provide home visits to women and their families in the communities to offer support and education on reproductive health; infant and child development; nutrition, health and lifestyle; parenting; maternal health and wellbeing; the importance of father involvement; prenatal support and education; and assist the CHC/CHR with the biweekly prenatal nutrition program luncheons and learning circles.
